Silent Auction Program
This program is designed for events wanting higher end memorabilia that is not donated. This is a turnkey program utilizing third party providers.
How it Works
- There are several ways to conduct a silent auction. If your event is just beginning or looking for a fresh look, Above Par Promotions offers an option to provide turnkey service for specialty items not normally donated. We have relationships with several auction providers that offer items on a consignment basis.
- We offer programs with both local and non-local specialized sources. The auction items will be pre-selected based on price, subject, or a combination of both. The selection is generally based on recommendations of the tournament staff.
- The local providers deliver items to be auctioned, complete with preprinted bid sheets. The minimum bid covers the cost of the item and includes a small profit for the event. Event staff determines location and placement of items. Items with “no bid” are picked up by the local provider.
- Out of area providers ship the items to the tournament. Event staff is responsible for staging. Bid sheets are provided with a minimum bid covering the cost of the item and a small profit for the event. Generally, presentation boards of the items are used for auction. Actual items are drop shipped to winning bidder. This occurs when shipping and insurance of the actual item is prohibitive. Items with “no bid” are return, postage prepaid.
- The location of display with high traffic and visibility is critical. Have the auction items on display in the clubhouse or registration area. Move items into the room where award ceremony takes place.
- Payment for items that are successfully auctioned occurs between the provider and the tournament.
Helpful Tips
- Send adequate communication to players and guests that a silent auction will be taking place. They are prepared to be on the look out for auction items.
- Make sure to include methods of payment that will be accepted. (Cash, personal check or credit card).
